Our Story
About us
Stories with something to say.
Â
I Dream of Deanie Productions (formally Comfy Couch Pictures)Â is an award-winning UK film company, with an international presence. From Australia to New York to LA and beyond, we create distinctive, inclusive and thought-provoking entertainment.
Â
Founded in 2020, at a time when the entertainment industry had been brought almost to a standstill, I Dream of Deanie Productions began with a simple belief:Â stories can entertain us, move us, challenge perceptions, and remind us that we are not alone.
Â
We are passionate about telling stories that bring colour, character and fresh perspectives to the screen. Stories that explore people, experiences and ideas that can too easily go unseen. Whether through laughter, suspense, darkness or the unexpected, our aim is always the same, to create entertainment that leaves something behind after the credits roll.
Â
Our work is not defined by one genre. From horror, comedy and romance to science fiction, film noir, documentary and thriller.
Creating opportunity. Championing creativity.
Â
We believe filmmaking is at its most exciting when talented people are given the opportunity to create.
We welcome collaboration with writers, actors, directors, cinematographers, sound professionals, costume and make-up artists, crew and emerging creatives, bringing together established experience and fresh talent both within our local community and beyond.
Â
As the company grows, so too does our ambition to encourage new voices, develop original ideas and create opportunities for people who want meaningful experience within the professional entertainment industry.
As of 2026, we have rebranded to I Dream of Deanie Productions, as we begin expanding our story telling to live theatre and beyond.Â
Â

From a difficult year came a new beginning.
Â
Comfy Couch Pictures emerged in November 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, a creative silver lining during an extraordinarily challenging period for the arts and entertainment world.
Â
In March 2022, that idea became a reality when cameras rolled in Australia on our first film, LUCI.
Â
That first production would go on to begin an award-winning journey for Comfy Couch Pictures, and mark the opening chapter of a much bigger story, I Dream of Deanie Productions.
Â
Even before filming began, LUCI received a little Hollywood encouragement, with a personal good-luck message from prolific Hollywood director, writer and producer Sam Irvin.
